Twinformatics: Connecting Tosca and Xray

Customer Overview
Twinformatics is part of the Vienna Insurance Group and responsible for the IT for thousands of Employees and millions of insurances contracts. Vienna Insurance Group is the leading insurance company in Austria and CEE (Central and Eastern Europe). The approximately 50 group companies offer their customers individual insurance products and services.
History
The customer is working with Tosca since 2007 and has a big portfolio of ~ 50.000 automated test cases. From beginning JIRA/Confluence was used for management of business requirements and tracking of all tasks. XRAY was adopted for test management in 2018, which allowed to manage all testing activities and release processes in Jira.
The challenge
Manual testing, done by hundreds of testers in several business departments, was reported using Xray’s comprehensive reporting capabilities. But the results of the Tosca Risk Based Regression (RiBaReg), a large portfolio of ~15.000 automated tests executed weekly, had to be merged manually. There was a demand for one unique test report. Beside this, access to Tosca is not possible for most of the business users.
The Solution
Twinformatics decided to implement the Automators Xray Tosca Connector as strong connection between Xray and Tosca. The connector was fully adapted to the needs of Twinformatics, and now it is possible to use a one-view reporting for all executed test cases. All testcases, steps, results and screenshots are transferred to Xray and can be easily accessed by all business users. Beside this an AI based classification of the errors is done to easily separate business-related errors from technical failures which helps to save much time in the analysis of failed test cases. The connector is also able to translate logical Test Cases developed in Tosca Test Case Design and automatically creates Test Cases with full step information in Xray. So, the connector massively enhances the test management capabilities of Xray and offers a full integration of automated test cases.
